HOTEL & CRUISE INSPECTIONS

CII provides on-site assessment services for the cruise and hotel industries, ensuring guest satisfaction and loyalty by establishing and measuring public health and guest service standards, while providing corrective action recommendations to enable continuous improvement.

The format and criteria for our inspections do not differ radically from the Vessel Sanitation Program (VSP) initiative or hotel industry standards, other than we do allow for inclusion of proprietary standards by cruise ships and hotels, (i.e., specific operational requirements, definitive service industry expectations, required supplies, etc).  Our inspections are intended to allow for specific guest service assessments and risk mitigation strategies.

The inspection report is generated via an electronic spreadsheet and transmitted electronically. This includes numerical scoring and risk-based color ratings in multiple categories of operations.

Under the banner of our recognized Inspection Process, established in the late 1980s, inspections provide a Compliance Review evaluating every aspect of an operation, which could influence a guest’s satisfaction. The key standard elements we assess are related to the United States Public Health/Vessel Sanitation Program (VSP). Inspections are an excellent opportunity to gain valuable feedback on standards attainment.

Our inspections provide a comparative assessment of at-sea or land-based operations against a standard yielding a high Return on Investment (ROI)

  • Identifies operations strengths and weaknesses

  • Recommends specific, effective corrective action

  • Identifies Public Health issues to preclude costly lawsuits

  • Allows for interaction (Q&A) with inspectors

  • Enables follow-up to assess effectiveness of corrective actions

  • Identifies standards (+ or -) achievement

  • Provides metrics and path for continuous improvement

  • Provides validation that may be used in marketing to meet guest expectations for guest return

Why use an independent inspection agency versus “in-house” self-inspection or voluntary public reviews?

  • Provides a quantitative unbiased assessment

  • Self-inspections can be biased and overlook items important to guests and marketability

  • Self-inspections may not be as comprehensive as C.I.I. audit checklist

  • Inspectors are experienced in regulatory compliance initiatives and hospitality management

  • Voluntary public reviews are not as comprehensive as C.I.I.

Voluntary public reviews may not be representative of guest views

PROCESS MANAGEMENT

Our cruise line inspection is a process verification of whether or not regulatory compliance has been met by reviewing the VSP’s Green Sheet, as related to cruise ship inspections (found as public information on CDC’s website). We provide clients with a Compliance Review Report – a Score Sheet matrix - based upon a thorough inspection process, to promote informed decisions on regulatory compliance, and weighing Readiness Perceived to Readiness to be Realized. Clients will be provided with detailed means and expertise to improve, correct and differentiate their service/product, through specific inspection results, corrective actions and innovative marketing strategies.

The participating operations provides C.I.I. with its VSP inspection history, which remains confidential and private. With this data, we inspect both positive and negative areas as identified by the VSP that require corrective action, and provide ship management with a full, quantitative report. Specific corrective actions will be recommended as part of the report. These reports could be utilized to track and provide historical trends for marketing use.
